1. Restoring pulpless teeth ‑ Do traditional principles still apply?
Guidelines for restoring pulpless teeth are well established; nevertheless the principles behind these guidelines were developed decades ago primarily from in vitro studies or retrospective studies of metallic posts cemented with conventional cements.
New materials and techniques have been introduced for the restoration of pulpless teeth, and there are additional clinical studies in the literature, not only on traditional materials and methods but also on the more novel materials.
This presentation will critically review the latest available evidence on restoring pulpless teeth and suggest practical guidelines for the clinician.
2. Dental Ceramics and CAD/CAM Technology
This first portion of this presentation will concentrate on tooth preparation design and methods of cementation of esthetic dental restorations. Topics to be discussed include:
• Historical development of tooth preparation designs
• Tooth preparation designs for:
• All-ceramic crowns
• Porcelain laminate veneers
• Porcelain inlays
• Metal-ceramic crowns
• Step-by-step procedures for tooth preparations
• Cementation procedures
The second portion of this presentation will review contemporary CAD/CAM technology.
